Unlocking Workplace Well-being: Why Mental Health is one of Your Business's Most Important KPI

Employee Relations

As we race towards November, long dark nights, storms and dare I say, Christmas, I wonder how many strikes we will face to make the winter darker. I had a gig to go to in London last week and due to strike action I was unable to go which was so frustrating and more annoyingly, meant wasted money. I have not been involved in any current disputes, but it is disappointing when relationships break down between employers and employees and particularly when there is an impact on the general public.

HR needs to be a critical partner to management when resolving these matters and more importantly at an early stage to avoid such confrontations. It is not good for anyone to have such disruption to a business. – Julie Painter

The Criticality of Mental Health in the Workplace

October is a poignant month for many as it marks the observance of Mental Health Awareness Day. This occasion serves as a crucial reminder that mental well-being is as essential as physical health, not just in our personal lives but also in the workplace. As we strive towards organisational excellence, it is imperative that we foster a work environment where employee welfare is not side lined but is instead a critical KPI (Key Performance Indicator).

Norwich Football Club released an incredibly moving short video aimed at shedding light on mental health issues Click here. The video successfully encapsulates the struggles individuals face, both visibly and invisibly. It serves as a crucial conversation starter within organisations, demonstrating the kind of impactful mental health initiatives that employers can undertake.
